Mid-Term Examinations Schedule and Grading System

For students pursuing higher education, mid-term exams are a crucial component of their academic journey. At our institution, the mid-term exams for the upcoming semester are scheduled to begin on Monday, 3rd April 2023 and will conclude on Thursday, 13th April 2023.

It’s important to note that the internal marks for each student will be calculated based on a specific grading system. The grading system consists of 80% weightage for the best of the two mid-term exams and 20% weightage for the other mid-term exam.

The syllabus for each subject is divided into six units, with the first mid-term exam covering units one to three, and the second exam covering units four to six. Both objective and subjective type exams will be conducted for each mid-term exam.

The total internal marks allocated for each student is 30, which is distributed into three components. The descriptive (subjective type) examination holds a weightage of 15 marks, while assignments are allocated five marks. The objective type examination, consisting of multiple-choice questions, holds a weightage of 10 marks.

As per the examination pattern for theory subjects, there will be two mid-term exams during each semester. Each mid-term exam will consist of an online objective examination, a descriptive examination, and an assignment. The online objective and descriptive exams will carry 10 marks each, and the total duration will be 1 hour 50 minutes (20 minutes for the objective exam and 90 minutes for the descriptive exam). The online objective exam will have 20 multiple choice questions for 10 marks (20 questions x ½ marks) from the first two and a half units (50% of the syllabus). The descriptive exam will have three full questions from the same units, and the student must answer all three. The second online exam will cover the remaining syllabus. The assignment will be given by the respective class teacher for five marks from the first two and a half units (50% of the syllabus), and the second assignment will be given from the rest of the syllabus. The first assignment should be submitted before the first mid-term exam, and the second assignment should be submitted before the second mid-term exam. Each mid-term exam carries a total of 25 marks.

The first mid-term marks, consisting of the online objective exam, descriptive exam, and assignment marks, must be submitted to the University Examination Section within a week after the completion of the first mid-term exam. The marks submitted will be displayed on the college notice boards for the benefit of the students. If there are any discrepancies found in the submitted mid-1 marks, they must be brought to the notice of the University Examination Section within a week of submission. Similarly, the second mid-term marks must be submitted to the University Examination Section within a week of completion of the second mid-term exam and will be displayed on the notice boards. If there are any discrepancies found in the submitted mid-2 marks, they must be brought to the notice of the University Examination Section within a week of submission. The internal marks will be calculated with 80% weightage for the better of the two mid-terms and 20% weightage for the other mid-term exam.

The University Examination Section will send the consolidated mid-term marks of all subjects to the concerned colleges, which will be displayed on the notice boards. If there are any discrepancies found, they must be brought to the notice of the University Examination Section through proper channels with all proofs within a week. Any discrepancies brought after the given deadline will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Please note that any omissions or clashes in the time table must be immediately informed to the Controller of Examinations. Even if the government declares a holiday on any of the above dates, the exams will be conducted as usual. The principals are requested to inform the university of any other substitute subjects that are not included in the above list immediately.
