During today’s Mann Ki Baat program, which aired on Akashvani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the upcoming launch of the Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign, which is dedicated to honouring our martyrs before Independence Day.
The Prime Minister encouraged everyone to participate by uploading a selfie while taking an oath with clay on yuvaa.gov.in. He stressed the significance of hoisting the Tricolor in every household, aiming to instil a sense of duty, the value of freedom, and honouring the sacrifices made for our nation’s independence.
The Meri Mati Mera Desh Abhiyan, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to pay homage to the martyrs through various nationwide programs. He emphasized that this campaign is a tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the country.
In his address on All India Radio, Prime Minister Modi mentioned plans for numerous programs across the country commemorating the martyrs as part of ongoing Amrit Mohotsav celebrations. e highlighted his intention to install unique inscriptions in lakhs of gram panchayats. Additionally, the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ under the Meri Mati Mera Desh Abhiyan will carry soil from 7500 kalashes representing different regions to the national capital, accompanied by plants from various parts of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the creation of an ‘Amrit Vatika’ near the National War Memorial. This special garden will be formed by mixing soil and saplings in 7500 urns. It’s intended to stand as a significant symbol of India’s unity and excellence, reflecting the ethos of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ (One India, Great India). In this program, villagers at the Gram Panchayat level will collectively pledge for the unity and integrity of the nation using a handful of clay or a clay lamp.
As part of the’ Vasudha Vandan initiative,’ each Gram Panchayat will plant and nurture 75 saplings.

The ‘Veer Vandan’ program aims to honour the families of national heroes—whether they’re Freedom Fighters, Security Personnel, or State and Central Police Forces—who’ve made significant sacrifices for the nation. At the village level, this program involves hoisting the national flag and singing the national anthem.
State Spokesperson Minister Rishikesh Patel shared that as part of this program, mud collection will occur in mud yantras from gram panchayats to the taluka and then to Delhi. The mud collected in ‘kadai kalash’ from all gram panchayats will be transported to Delhi by the youth, culminating in a final event on August 30 at Kartvya Path, New Delhi, graced by esteemed dignitaries.
The ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ orchestrated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, commemorates 75 years of India’s independence. This celebratory event, officially commencing on March 12, 2021, will continue until August 30, 2023, marking a significant milestone in India’s history.
